Financial benefits and support services
The University of Salzburg offers its employees a wide range of financial benefits and support services. These measures contribute to social security, promote sustainable mobility, and provide assistance in special life situations.
Our benefits at a glance
-
Travel cost subsidy
Employees who are entitled to the commuter allowance or the commuter euro receive an additional travel cost subsidy. The amount is based on the respective commuter allowance and supports daily travel to the workplace. -
Financial emergencies
In cases of hardship through no fault of their own, the H.A.U.S. Association (Humanitarian Actions of the University of Salzburg) offers help and support to members of the University of Salzburg. The board decides in monthly meetings how and whether support can be provided. -
Subsidy for the KlimaTicket
As a contribution to ecological sustainability, the University of Salzburg subsidises the KlimaTicket. This actively promotes the use of public transport for commuting and sends a clear signal in favour of environmentally conscious mobility. In doing so, we make an active contribution to climate protection. -
Births
Upon the birth of a child, female employees receive a one‑off financial grant and a welcome gift in the form of small presents such as a muslin cloth, baby bodysuit, or wooden rattle. In this way, the University of Salzburg honours this special moment in life and supports young families. -
Salary advance
In cases of financial hardship through no fault of one’s own, or for justified reasons – for example dental treatment or home renovations – salary advances may be granted. Processing is carried out taking individual circumstances into account. -
Uniqa group insurance
Benefit from the UNIQA group insurance: as an employee of the University of Salzburg, you receive supplementary insurance at significantly reduced rates (20% cheaper) compared with individual policies. Consultation sessions take place 2–3 times per semester. -
Additional occupational pension scheme
In addition to your salary, we make a monthly contribution to a private pension fund. This attractive additional benefit complements the statutory pension scheme and provides greater financial security for retirement. -
Subsidies for computer glasses
The University of Salzburg supports employees by reimbursing costs for single‑vision and multifocal computer glasses. -
Subsidies for Christmas parties and staff outings
The University of Salzburg supports employees with subsidies for Christmas parties (for departments) and staff outings.
