Experiencing and Engaging with Applications of Discrete Mathematics in Cybersecurity and Resilience

CIVIS

The risks arising from natural hazards and digital threats are expected to increase in the future, as is their impact on society as a whole, driven by climate change and the growing interconnectedness of digitalized societal functions.

The CIVIS Open Lab project “Experiencing and Engaging with Applications of Discrete Mathematics in Cybersecurity and Resilience” targets the motivation and engagement of the next generation for mathematical foundations of cybersecurity and resilience against natural hazards in an evolving complex environment, by creating outreach materials that provide for the experience and engagement with applications of discrete mathematics as a foundation of (applications of) computer science on a non-technical level for (high-)school children and the interested public and by participating in science outreach events in the broader area of Salzburg in Austria.
