Based on a broad spectrum of research topics, Z_GIS is contributing to awareness building and spatial thinking, to undergraduate as well as professional and graduate education through a complete range of educational programs and initiatives. Schools-oriented frameworks and teacher training target the broad area of general education, while Bologna-conformant degree programmes support the development of Geoinformatics professionals who are successful in many fields. Overall, capacity building and translation of research results into educational outcomes are a key element of Z_GIS’ strategic plan, which is aiming at supporting new insights through research as well as outreach to the GI community with highly qualified graduates.

    The subject of the bachelor’s degree program in geography is the scientific subject of geography with its natural and social science perspectives on the spatial organization of society, the economy and the environment.     Applied Geoinformatics (AGI)

    4 Semester | MSc | 120 ECTS | Classroom

    The master’s program “Applied Geoinformatics” provides the methodological, technological and content-related foundations for the interdisciplinary subject of geoinformatics. The program is supervised by the departments Geoinformatics – Z_GIS and Geography & Geology and comprises 120 ECTS. Prerequisite for admission is a completed Bachelor’s degree with geoscientific reference (geography, geology, geodesy, environmental sciences or similar), from the field of computer science or social or economic science orientation.     UNIGIS MSc is a distance learning program at the University of Salzburg that provides knowledge of geoinformatics in theory and practice. The degree of Master of Science (MSc) qualifies you to lead GIS projects, working groups and departments in the broad GIS and geoinformatics environment.
