Interdisciplinary Competence Expansion “Climate and Sustainability”

The Interdisciplinary Competence Expansion “Climate and Sustainability” can be chosen as part of a Major‑Minor Bachelor’s degree and is aimed at students who wish to complement their studies with a structured, cross‑disciplinary focus. It provides fundamental interdisciplinary competencies and offers a scientifically grounded overview of different approaches to climate change and sustainable action. The course Environmental Psychology (VU Umweltpsychologie) is integrated into this competence expansion and enables students to connect psychological perspectives with approaches from other disciplines. This creates a broad, integrative view of key questions related to climate, behaviour, and societal transformation.

Supplementary Programme “Climate Change and Sustainability”

Dr. Isabella Uhl-Hädicke heads the supplementary programme “Climate Change and Sustainability”, which can be completed within a subject‑specific Bachelor’s degree at the University of Salzburg. This programme enables students from all disciplines to engage in an in‑depth and critical examination of the challenges of climate change and to gain a scientifically grounded, holistic perspective on possible strategies and pathways for addressing the climate and sustainability crisis. Its aim is to convey interdisciplinary foundations and to provide an overview of the approaches represented across the various disciplines at PLUS.

Master’s Programme Psychology: 

Elective Module “Environmental Psychology“

Dr. Isabella Uhl-Hädicke leads the elective module “Environmental Psychology”, which can be completed within the Master’s programme in Psychology. The module consists of the following courses:

• Winter semester: Lecture Environmental Psychology – Factors Influencing Environmental Behaviour

• Summer semester: Empirical and/or content‑focused seminar within the elective module Environmental Psychology

In addition, there are annually changing courses offered in the field of environmental psychology.
