The Dual Career Service at the University of Salzburg works together with newly appointed professors and their partners to ensure that the partner can continue their professional career in Salzburg or the surrounding region as smoothly as possible following a relocation from abroad. The support includes both professional and private guidance.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about the Dual Career Service

  • Who can use the Dual Career Service?

    The service is available to newly appointed university professors according to § 98 and § 99 of the Austrian Universities Act 2002, as well as their partners.

  • When does the support begin and end?

    Support may begin as early as the start of appointment negotiations and ends no later than 12 months after taking up the position at the University of Salzburg.

  • What does the Dual Career Service offer?

    Guidance on the partner’s professional orientation, information on potential employers (universities, universities of applied sciences, companies), support with re-entry, career change and further training, as well as assistance in finding accommodation, childcare, schooling and social integration.

  • Is there a job guarantee?

    No. The Dual Career Service cannot guarantee employment, accommodation or childcare. It is a supportive, advisory service.

  • Who does the Dual Career Service collaborate with?

    The University of Salzburg cooperates with internal units as well as external partner institutions in the region to offer the broadest possible range of support.

  • Is there a supra-regional network?

    Yes. The universities of Salzburg, Innsbruck and Linz collaborate within the Dual Career Services Upper Austria – Salzburg – Tyrol network. It was founded in 2017 and is open to further members.

  • Is there a national platform?

    The University of Salzburg is a member of the Austrian Dual Career Network (ADCN), which promotes exchange and quality assurance of dual career services at the national level.
