Focus

 The ne(x)t work Supplementary Study Programme, offered by the University of Salzburg Career Center, is open to students from all academic disciplines. It provides a structured opportunity to develop transferable skills that are equally valuable for academic success and for entering the labour market.

The programme accompanies students throughout the entire student life cycle, from their first semester through their active study period and into the transition to professional employment. It supports students in:

• reflecting on their strengths and interests,
• developing self-management skills,
• collaborating effectively in teams, and
• addressing complex challenges in a structured way.

These transversal competencies complement disciplinary expertise and contribute directly to academic success. The programme strengthens employability while helping students develop capabilities that remain transferable across professions, organizations, and life stages.

Structure & Requirements

Basic Module (12 ECTS)

The aim of the Basic Module is to help students:

• reflect on their personal resources,
• establish a solid basis for career orientation and professional agency, and
• understand economic and organisational contexts.

Students must complete 12 ECTS* from at least two of the following three thematic areas:

• Personality and Collaboration
• Problem Solving and Implementation
• Business and Organisation

Advanced Module (12 ECTS)

Students must complete a further 12 ECTS from the thematic area:

• Business and Organisation

Course Registration

The Career Center courses are subject to fees. Details and registration for individual courses are available via PLUSonline.

Note: For courses taken as part of the supplementary study programme, select “Free Registration” in PLUSonline during course registration.

Certificate

After successfully completing the courses listed above, the following certificates can be requested:

• Basic Module ne(x)t work. This will be issued after successful completion of the corresponding Basic Module totaling 12 ECTS points.
• Supplementary Study programme ne(x)t work. This will be issued after successful completion of a Basic Module and the Advanced Module, totaling 24 ECTS points.

IMPORTANT: If students wish to have the study supplement listed on their Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Diploma examination certificate as part of their free electives, they must comply with the regulations of their respective curriculum. Consultation with the chair of the relevant curriculum committee is recommended beforehand.

Requesting a Certificate

Once you have completed the required courses, submit the completed exam pass and the corresponding certificates to the Career Center. After verifying the documents, the certificate will be issued by the ZFL – Flexible Learning on behalf of the Vice-Rectorate for Education and Student Experience and will be sent digitally to your university email address.

Certificates cannot be issued after graduation. Students should therefore apply several weeks before completing their degree.

If it is not possible to print the academic records from PLUSonline, only submit the completed exam pass.

Transitional Provision

 Students who completed coursework under the former Supplementary Study Programme “Career Design Initiative” and/or the PLUS.Startup School Module in accordance with the Vice Rector’s Regulation published in the Bulletin of 8 August 2016 (No. 235) may continue to obtain certificates under those regulations until 30 September 2027, after which the regulation will expire on 1 October 2027.
