Research:
Habitual behaviors are often influenced by implicit processes. These implicit processes can work against health goals and conscious intentions and therefore lead to failures in dieting or abstaining from alcohol. During my PhD, I specifically focused on how to assess implicit approach tendencies using reaction time tasks and how these tendencies affect daily consumption behavior. Furthermore, I am interested in the change of consumer behavior and intentions over time. By using “Ecological Momentary Assessment”, I investigate the extent to which past failures influence whether a person falls into a negative downward spiral or whether failures serve as motivation to avoid them in the future.
