Soso Makaradze is a project coordinator in the Department of Political Science at the University of Salzburg. He received his PhD in Political Science from the Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies (SCEUS) at the University of Salzburg in 2026. His research focuses on democratic backsliding in the European Union, the enforcement of fundamental EU values, and the EU’s enlargement and neighbourhood policies.

In addition to his academic work, he has extensive experience in the administration and quality management of EU-funded Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) projects. Since 2022, he has been involved in the implementation of the Curriculum Development – Joint MA Programme in Political Science (JoPSciP). Since October 2025, he has also contributed to the Teach-UP project (Transformative Education and Capacity-building for Higher Education Professionals in Political and Social Sciences). Beyond project management, he has served as a student member of the accreditation panel for the European Joint Master’s in Strategic Border Management in 2025.
