Lara Marie Simonitsch has been a doctoral researcher at the Department of Political Science at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg since October 2025. She completed her Bachelor’s degree (2018–2022) and Master’s degree (2022–2025) in Political Science at the University of Salzburg. From 2022 to 2024, she also worked as a student assistant at the Salzburg Centre of European Union Studies (SCEUS). Her Master’s thesis examined the impact of partisan composition on municipal climate ambition in Austria. Her cumulative dissertation investigates how political scale, institutional design, and partisan ideology shape local democracy. Her research interests lie in comparative politics and local democracy and governance research, with a focus on Austria.
